Redwell Infra Red Heating Units by Anyplant Ltd, Cyprus

Infrared Radiation

What is Infrared Radiation?
Infrared radiation has nothing to do with ultraviolet radiation!
In everyday life the Sun is the main source of infrared radiation (49%) that makes us feel comfortably warm.
Infrared radiation lies just below the visible range and it is these heat rays which provide for health and well-being.
Infrared waves are a form of energy which can warm up objects without warming up the air surrounding them. Infra red radiant heat has been used for many years for therapeutic and medical purposes and can be classified as safe.

Heating with Infrared Radiation is Not a New Invention!
Heating with infrared radiation is as old as the use of fire by man. Stone, clay and later tiled stoves were used; tiled stoves supply us with cozy warmth to this day.
The Hypocaust heating system of the Romans is well-known as the first central heating system. It functioned solely by producing thermal waves. At the time of construction there were no paints or other materials that promoted mould like today, nor thermostats and heat insulation compound systems to control the temperature. The walls became warm through heat condensation.

Why is there so much doubt about whether infrared radiation heating systems can heat sufficiently?
Because many still carry the erroneous belief that a warm or cold feeling depends entirely on the temperature of the surrounding air. That is completely wrong! An example from nature proves it: Skiers and mountain climbers do not freeze even if they are in extremely cold air. The reason: They are surrounded by warm infrared waves, which come directly from the sun or are reflected by the environment (snow, stones, earth etc.)(Nach Oben).

Health and Infrared Radiation
The first infrared thermal cabin was developed in 1967, by Dr. Tadishi in Japan and it was used by physicians. In 1981 infrared cabins were released for general use.  Since then thermal cabins have been used successfully by specialists, physicians and therapists in treatment centres, clinics and health resorts in addition to medical treatment methods and as well for private use.
Today, infrared heat systems are added to support baby incubators in order to maintain babies pleasantly warm.
Infrared warmth has various applications and can positively influence many ailments:
High or low blood pressure; circulatory disturbances; kidney disorders; detoxification; stress; ear, nose and throat infections; tinnitus; rheumatism, arthritis, joint inflammations, stiffness of joints, sprains, pulled muscles; lumbago, back pain; bronchitis; asthma; pneumonia; common cold; menstrual pain; sciatica, insomnia; sunburn; digestive disorders; exhaustion

Sport
The infrared sauna can help keep muscles in good condition even during inactive periods caused by sport injury. It is a good idea to use a thermal cabin to warm up before working out. It is possible to use the infrared cabin while being fully dressed, thanks to the deep warmth penetration of infrared heat.

Technical Information

Way of Function
Contrary to convection heaters, radiant heaters do NOT transfer energy mainly through the air but through electromagnetic waves. In other words, the air between the (radiant) heating unit and the recipient does not warm up.

Infrared Radiant Heater

Infrared radiation is partly absorbed and partly reflected by recipient bodies. This has the effect of turning objects in a room to secondary heat emitters, which in turn return the absorbed energy to the room and individuals as thermal energy.
Radiant heat (also known as thermal radiation) results in cooler, motionless and mainly dust-free air.
The human body prefers radiated heat to convection heat.
The larger the surface of the heating element, the less the air is moved and thus, more warmth is radiated. An experiment at the John B. Pierce Laboratory, USA, clarified the goal of a reasonable heating technique: Test persons in a room with warm air temperature of 50°C (122°F) and cooled walls froze unpleasantly; while test persons in a room with air temperature of 10°C (50°F) and warm walls, started sweating (source: Nach Oben, Techn. Info "Strahlungsenergie - die Ur-Energie, neu entdeckt, TT Technotherm GmbH, Nurnberg).

redwell cyprus heatingDesign - Redwell Heating Elements
Only materials which meet the highest qualitative requirements, have a long life cycle and which are in accordance with the requirements of ecological standards of today's society are used in our Redwell heating elements.

1) Core and Accumulator Element:

  • a natural product
  • non-flammable (melting point 1315°C - 2399°F)
  • not electrically conductive
  • shows no thermal layering when exposed to freezing temperatures

2) Electronics:
We use a high quality heating wire which makes it possible for us to manufacture heating units which are almost entirely free of electrosmog.
To protect the heating unit from overheating and to elimininate overheating hazards, the unit is equipped with a safety thermostat approved and required by the TUV.

3) Hard Glass Enamelled Surface
Enamelled steel is the result of the melting of high quality steel and tempered glass in accordance with high-tech production processes. Enamelled steel is scratch resistant, acid resistant, colourfast and nearly indestructible.
This surface material can be manufactured in various colours, even with decorative themes and pictures (screen processing). Additionally, hard glass enamelled surfaces have very good heat reflection properties (-reduced emission of convection warmth).
An additional positive attribute is the low conductivity of heat transfer. This is what allows us to be able to touch the heating elements for a short time without suffering burn injury or pain (there is no danger of injury even for small children).

Rear Panel
In order to provide the necessary stiffness and rate of twist, we use 0,55 mm thick galvanized sheeting on our Redwell heating units.

Joining the Surface, Core and Rear Panel
We use a special adhesive to combine these elements, ensuring a lasting and stable unit life. This dual-component adhesive is designed for high-temperature use, is custom-manufactured for our heating units and is free of gas emissions.
The special adhesive is applied to the sheets, which are then put together and fixed in a press.

Frame
The frame of the heating units is made of anodized aluminium (standard models), which is also available in white, chrome or wood.

Corners and Brackets
For the installation of the heating units, we can provide hidden brackets (for wall mounting only) or synthetic corner brackets (for wall or ceiling installation).
The synthetic corner brackets are available in white or grey.

We cannot do magic, but we can:
- dry the masonry - or keep it dry.
This results in a reduction of thermal conductivity and reduction of energy costs.
- lower the room temperature by about 2°C
1. That means less transport of warmth through the room exterior, due to the smaller difference in air temperature.
2. Less loss of energy through air exchange - (ventilation, cracks, etc.)
1°C less, means an energy saving of approximately 5%.
This means that by 2 °C less, there is a saving of approximately 10%.
